1995-D Kennedy Half Struck Through Gold Coin?

That gold color looks like dried adhesive, perhaps from tape. It isn't actual gold. Spence Moderator United States 34427 Posts	Posted 07/20/2019 5:58 pm @NC, yes sorry if it seems like we are dismissing your potential find too quickly, but I am quite confident of my initial assessment. I don't see the Indian Head design--could it be Pareidolia? To check, how about if you soak this coin in acetone and see if the surface becomes more uniform. Such a bath wouldn't affect any remnant gold embedded in this coin and might just remove the adhesive (if it is). Then, post pics here of what you see. Thx. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 07/20/2019 6:18 pm Looks like fingernail polish from what I can see. It is peeling off the coin. You can see that it has chipped away. If the edge shows copper, it was altered after it left the mint. It is a Denver coin, and they don't have gold coins in that facility. PSD Report this Post to the Staff
