I appreciate your diligence, but for the future not as many pics are needed. That gold color looks like dried adhesive, perhaps from tape. It isn't actual gold.

I know coins like this are easy to quickly dismiss but look closely at the details on the obverse

I think it's just some foreign substance adhering to the surface, perhaps with something impressed into it.

@NC, yes sorry if it seems like we are dismissing your potential find too quickly, but I am quite confident of my initial assessment. I don't see the Indian Head design--could it be Pareidolia? To check, how about if you soak this coin in acetone and see if the surface becomes more uniform. Such a bath wouldn't affect any remnant gold embedded in this coin and might just remove the adhesive (if it is). Then, post pics here of what you see. Thx.

Can anyone explain the design of another coin on the obverse? You can tell it is struck into it

Looks like fingernail polish from what I can see. It is peeling off the coin. You can see that it has chipped away. If the edge shows copper, it was altered after it left the mint. It is a Denver coin, and they don't have gold coins in that facility. PSD

Let's pretend there is no gold color and it's just a clad obverse....why are there so many different designs struck into it?
