Hi. New here.. excuse me if I am posting in the wrong place. I have a 1964 D Quarter with a Type C reverse. I have searched until I am blue in the face trying to figure out what this is worth. It may be an MS66 (the highest on PCGS) but I dream of it being a tad better (don't we all). If it is, I really don't want to just drop in into the mail to send to PCGS. Is it possible to get a couple opinions? I will try to get a couple decent pics with my phone but it's hard to do on a shiny coin:( Edited by CoinAddiction 07/25/2019 08:31 am

Nice coin. There is a tab on this forum for grading. This is the Modern error a Variety page. PCGS has a photo grading site that is an excellent source to help you find the grade of your coin.

Great, thank you! I have had this for 9 years and just now realized what it was. I will try to get better pics and post there. The scratches is shows are very hard to see without the light and zoom.I need something other than a phone pic...

^^^ Not sure how to quote yet ^^^
Sorry to keep posting but isn't this a modern error coin? Being a 1964 d and error being a type c - '65 reverse on a '64 quarter?

Thank you. The coin actually has no toning at all. I had to darken pics a bit so they wouldn't look like white circles.. lol I kind of wish it had toning but I like spinning the cartwheel

@CoinAddiction, yes it is an error coin. But if I understood you you are wanting to know what it may grade out at. That's the page for that. But my guess would be AU-60.

Check to see if that area has Machine Doubling on it. The tail feathers could have been affected? I used the inverted image on the glare out area and wondered if this could be the cause of the tail feathers enhanced. The light angle is too low. It makes it glare instead of getting light. The feathers should look like this: Too much light is too much, light.

Thanks @coop, and @jbuck for the welcome. I will be getting a microscope this weekend. Perhaps that will shed some light onto the subject. May get something that takes better pics too. I have too many coins to use the strong loop I have. Getting old and eyes are hurting. Will be going through a couple thousand pennies & Dimes at work tonight, maybe I will have something else to post!

Getting the right scope is important. You don't need something that you can see germs with. The one I use is a infinite zoom microscope. It adjusts from 3.5-35X. But what ever do get, the lighting will be the next issue. So let us know if you need suggestions.
