What is this on his forehead? There is no other md on the obverse so I don't feel like that is the explanation. Opinions?

Well the nose has been polished away from the die. So I'm thinking this is the deeper devices on the dies. The mid devices have been taken away. That was what was left.

Must have been a bad Die Clash in that area, since it's been polished away.
