Newfinds, if you're referring to Machine Doubling, then yes. It also reduces the size of the devices too. The devices size will be altered. It will be smaller than normal. Die Deterioration Doubling has ghost like doubling and is caused by a worn die issue (Die Deterioration, meaning the die gets worn), from the die getting worn out and being very used. The die will usually be used to strike a lot of coins (as many as it can, until it's no good anymore), unless if there was a problem that caused the die to be taken out of service early. http://www.error-ref.com/machine-doubling/ http://www.error-ref.com/die-deteri...on-doubling/
Errers and Varietys.

These are called flow line. As people get flow lines we call wrinkles. The show the aging of the die. And some times they get polished off the die, but come back again. But the devices on the die will show wear as they can't polish those areas. Sometimes events happen that time cannot erase for dies and people.

I don't do nickels because of the deceptive MD but isn't that separation with splits on the right side of FIVE CE in the first image?

@Petespockets55 that's just the lighting, not the actual coin.

On the right side of the FIVE CENTS area that is where you see the Machine Doubling. On a doubled die, the devices will be enlarged:

Note this example? Note the space above and below the devices, then look at yours again. Then you will note that the overall size of the devices on your coin are normal in size and the DDR has the devices enlarged a lot.
