I realize that in and of itself this coin is very common, actually perhaps even somewhat boring, but I wanted to relate how I came by it anyway. A Tucson coin shop I patronize weekly had a pile of late Roman bronzes in the showcase, on sale (and I've no idea how they arrived at this price) for $4.69! Most were pretty worn but all had enough detail left to be identified. This one stood out to me for its much better than usual reverse of a fallen horseman being speared. It's roughly 21 mm across, and I have it as RIC VIII 82 (Heraclea).

Yep, good detail on that reverse. Can't beat the price. Well done.

Here is an example from an earlier issue:-

Constantius-II-Bronze

One from a different officinal to the OP

Constantius-II-Bronze

This one is a strong strike but there is a double strike there too (look in the hair)

Constantius-II-Bronze

And a smaller, later issue

I would really recommend looking out for a good grade, well struck example from one of the mints with fine style (e.g. Antioch). In my opinion, when these are good they are very good.

Whilst this one is common you don't always seem them like this.

Constantius II - AE2

Obv:- D N CONSTANTIVS P F AVG, Pearl diademed, draped, cuirassed, bust right
Rev:- FEL TEMP REPARATIO, Helmeted soldier to left, shield on left arm, spearing falling horseman; shield on ground at right. Horseman is bearded and falls forward reaching towards emperor (type FH3)
Minted in Antioch (Gamma | _ //ANS). A.D. 350-355
Reference:- RIC VIII, Antioch 132

Constantius-II-Bronze

Regards,
Martin

Martin, that specimen is outstanding, I can't imagine it could be bettered. It was worth posting mine just to get a look at this one of yours.
