Just damaged, PSD. The last digit of the date has taken a well placed hit, causing the metal to get pushed over and flattened.

Keep in mind vending machine back in that day, were a big thing. A lot could be bought for a cent. But how can you tell if it is vending machine damage? The damage is often alters the devices to be parallel to the rim:
