For some reason I thought there was a thread going on about this ebay listing, but I guess I'm wrong. This is an EMPTY 1884-CC dollar bag from the GSA sale - current bid $900. Check it out. 153580744755

Remarkable listing - over $900 now, for an empty cloth bag.

I moved this to the US Classic and Colonial Coins forum to get more eyes on it. I know it is not about the coin, but it does give some perspective, I think, to general Morgan dollar worship.

A good seller, one I've bought quite a few books from in the past. I think it went for a fair price, I've seen these for sale in the past at coin shows for ridiculous sums $2K and more.

Having seen so many fake "cc bank rolls" it's nice to see the real thing. Most of the cc Morgans went into sacks like this and left town for the Treasury vault, not local banks.

I love all the circular marks on the bag from the silver dollars that were inside.

The ghosts of Christmas past Paul.
I've been rereading the history of the Virginia City mines. All that silver came from a truly awful hole in the ground.

thq - I always drive up there when I'm at Tahoe. Quite a place. Especially fascinated by the cemetaries.
