EF 40, maybe AU 50

This might have been cleaned or some kind treatment at some point in its life. Color looks a bit off.

I think ICCS was a bit stingy on the grade. Looks like a solid EF to me.

Very nice coin. Could be a net grade issued by ICCS. In technicality it has details on the EF range. Maybe the cleaning / dipping could have dropped some points.

Far too much loss of detail in the hair and braid to make EF. This is what a properly graded VF-30 looks like.

Solid EF if you ask me. There has to be a difference between EF and AU. If this coin is VF30 where does that leave room for wear between EF and AU. Seriously.

The lower curl of the top knot shows too much detail for a VF. I suspect the weak detail on the hair at the forehead and top of the head is due to strike weakness, rather than circulation. While the reverse is irrelevant for grading, it is useful to measure strike quality, and there is a loss of detail in the outer portions of the leaves and in the protected areas of the crown. IMHO, this technically grades as a solid EF-40.

ICCS graded "EF-40" "EF-45" and "AU-50" 10c coins in the picture. An EF coin should be quite sharp to start with, the jump to AU should be relatively small, and the jump from "about uncirculated" to "uncirculated" should also be quite minor. That's also why the use of grades like "AU-53" are laughable, not a single TPG can accurately use that sort of resolution even 9 times out of 10.

Looking at the amount of wear on the high points, EF-40.
