Is there a way I can use something as a filter between my camera and coins? On the lowest setting it's too bright against the shininess of coin. I feel like there's some errors and I don't know if I've got them captured good enough. So here's a few of my photos and see what you think or advise so they turn out better. (These are photos from all 3 mints)

From these pictures it does not look like the 1943 doubling examples I've seen, more like Machine Doubling.

Well I put some of the same mints up. Uploaded wrong photos. But the 4 on the P date has I believe a die chip on it. But picture wise, is it clear enough to tell? Or is there something else I can do to help out ?

Die Deterioration doubling. The devises are moving towards the rim. Pretty common on those steel cents.

Also your coin is a reprocessed cent. After these started looking rough, some buy the and re-plate them make them too shiny. They should not be shiny.

When they are plated, the imperfections and plated over rust ruins the collectable value.

Pretty much just wheat cents when the surface is altered.

This appears to be a replated coin also. If you look at the edge you should see light rusty lines from the steel core being exposed to oxygen. The planchet was plated before it was punched out. The plating won't be on the edge of cents from 1943.

Replating can also give it an odd effect around some devices by collecting or "coagulating" around the edges and recesses.

EDIT: Coop beat me to it and did a much better job explaining.

They didn't make proof coins in 1943. The cent appears reprocessed, and a great many reprocessed cents show such doubling. I believe it somehow creates the doubling in the process of removing the old zinc.
