With spot gold today topping 2000 CAD, I have to wonder if the RCM will be increasing their gold NCLT retail prices if the gold price sticks above 2000 or increases further. The 1/2 oz coins are priced at $1200, which is now only 20% above spot price. I see online gold dealers today selling 1/2 oz Maple Leafs for around $1070-$1080 when I checked. So at today's rates you could get a proof NCLT coin from the RCM for only 12% above what you'd pay for bullion.

Now the question becomes, will the RCM raise their gold NCLT prices? I think they could certainly get away with an increase given the circumstances. Or they could get easy sellouts and make more gold coins for 2020 at higher prices by a few hundred dollars each. What do you think?

RCM won't increase gold NCLT prices if these coins are not selling. This year's gold NCLT coins don't seem to sell better than last year, even with significant gold bullion price increase and generally less mintages.

I was wondering the same thing after watching spot gold jump to $2,000 today.

S.Bromberg just stated on TSC to expect RCM gold coin prices to rise with spot price.

The RCM uses JIT inventory for their gold blanks, so they will increase their prices along with the spot price.
