I came across this one the other day and immediately thought it was a cool die crack, but found the location a little odd because they aren't normally found running from top to bottom like that.

However, upon closer inspection I'm wondering if this isn't a cracked planchet because I can't find any indication of extruded or protruding metal from the crack that you normally see with a die break.

Apologies in advance for the number of pictures, but I wanted to make sure I captured the entire area in question.

Thanks for your time.

Definitely a die crack. It's a pretty long die crack too!

It's just a Die Crack. If it went Rim To Rim, which it doesn't, then it would be a keeper.

Thanks for your input. Perhaps I'm not using the terminology correctly, but if this was caused by a crack in the die (a "die crack")at the time of striking, wouldn't the line on the coin be raised - extruded up into the die by the force of the strike?

Here, I can't see any indication of raised or extruded metal along the flow of the crack, which makes me think this might be a crack in the planchet before it was struck.
