I think this is a doubled die because the doubling is not flat, like a shelf, the doubling does not make the original lettering (devices) smaller to where it fits inside the doubling like Machine Doubling does and the doubling appears to have height and depth.

What do you think? I also think this is the minor variety of the 1972 LMC DDO as noted in the PCGS Coin App under 1972 DDO Variety.

I agree, it is clearly doubled and isn't "ghosting."

Awesome find! Definitely a DDO! Have you tried matching it yet?

You should use LMC instead of 1C because LMC is searchable.

This is my first major find.

By matching do you mean to suggest that I match it against the other 11 or 12 DDO for the year 1972? I used Wexler and I came up with WDDO-003 Stage A. Thoughts?

Images of the date and Liberty would also be helpful. But in so thinking it is 003.

Thank you for the comments. I sent the coin off to PCGS or I would post the date and liberty pictures. Thanks coop! I'll remember to be more thorough next time! ;)
