I bought this on Etsy, after looking for great deals on legitimate error coins. I paid 10.95 plus 3.00 for shipping. Not a bad deal. :) There's some legitimate error coins on Etsy, but you need to look around carefully! Although, I'd say that 99 percent of them were face value garbage though. https://www.etsy.com/listing/691622...tail=1&frs=1Errers and Varietys.

The coin appears to be from the 90's or early 00's. The earlier coins from the 70's and 80's did not have that much detail in the hair and in Montecello.
Nice pickup for 10$!

Thank you westernsky! I had a feeling it was around that era, because of the details on the obverse and reverse. I will post "in hand" pictures, once I get it in the mail.

Thank you Greasy Fingers! I wanted to pickup another Double Struck coin, but didn't want to pay a fortune, so I went on Etsy instead.

Ev....funny enough, I've picked up several really nice Jefferson varieties off Etsy. It's a place I never really thought to look until about a year ago. And you are correct, there is a ton of garbage but you can find some cool bargains if one looks hard enough.

Nice error Errers and Varietys,
What is that dark stuff on one side of the off strike?

Thank you levelsofmadnes and ElonU! Levelofmadnes, not sure what thay dark stuff is on the reverse, have to wait until I get it in hand. ElonU, that's funny! I didn't do serious coin shopping, nor took Etsy seriously, until yesterday, after I made an account there. It took a few hours (2 to 3 hours of looking hard for legitimate error coins). Then I finally came across this one and some other error coins on there. So the point is, if you're gonna do some serious coin shopping on Etsy, just be very cautious and careful.

Not a bad pickup, depending on what looks like some sort of corrosion on the reverse double-struck portion. I would venture to guess that it is from the early 2000s.

Question: Why is it black on the reverse?

Thank you spruett001 and Coop for your input. The reverse might have a corrosion issue going on. We'll see what it looks like in hand, once I get it.

I don't want to sway you in any way but I would not have bought that coin simply because of that funky reverse . I'm no expert on Errors particularly a double struct coin , but that area just doesn't look right to me ,much too different than the obverse .

Thank you Valhallabound. T-BOP, I am not picky about coins luckily, so the reverse spot is not an issue for me. Definitely a genuine Double Struck coin with a Stretched Uniface Strike, on the reverse I think.
