Ok well since I have been here I have learned quite abit about large cents and first thing I learned is they started in 1793.
I have this one coin that I've been looking at the hole time
and really can't figure it out.

To me and everyone I've showed it looks to be 1784.
But is that possible?
Question-On-A-Coin

It is the one on the left you can kinda see 1784.
Maybe it has just been corroded or whatever and looks to be
1784 I'm not sure.

This is the thickness compared to a 1798.
Question-On-A-Coin

On the side all the way around is embedded "ONE HUNDRED FOR A DOLLAR"

I can't figure it out it has been bothering me for awhile figure I would ask now.
Any help would be appriciated thanks.

1784 is not a possibility. I'm sure it must be 1794.

This style of cent (Liberty Cap) was minted 1793-1796.

The corrosion plays tricks on you. It does happen sometimes.

It is definitely a 1794, and from what I see I think it is quite possibly a S-57. A common variety.

I see exactly what you see Teuk, but I have to agree that it is a '94. The corrosion is playing tricks on you, especially if you look at the good 9, and think how if badly corroded it could look like an 8.

See how the 9 on the clear date 1795 coin wraps around...it's a 9
and another piece of great American history!

Liberty Cap Large Cents were struck 1793-1796. This is definitely a 1794 and as stated looks to be a S-57 variety. Large cents did start in 1793 but your coins were preceded by the 1793 Flowing Hair Chain reverse and Wreath reverse varieties. Not an official Federal issue but very rare was the 1792 Birch Cent. Very interesting coin.

I agree, it DOES look like an 1784, but I'm pretty sure it's a 1794 and I agree with others the corrosion sometimes play tricks on your eyes.
