When all is said and done, the coin is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. As you can see by the above examples, Jan. 07 someone bought the letters and numbers NGC MS62 not the coin. If your coin is slabbed you may realize somewhere on the $30s, raw knock off $10.

what is a VAM worth? a VAM is worth a thousand smiles on your face, a wonderful feeling of finding one on your own, an accomplishment of research and patience all paying off looking forward to the time that you might , any second with your stomach in a tingleing mass, come upon a very nice find and just so happens to be a real rarity.most of the time they are not so rare, if and when you find one. Especially if you did obtain the coin for other reasons and later found out it was a VAM. I dont know about others but I can say that I have , like many others , have been collecting coins and studying them for more than 40+ years, and with the last 2+ years been an exciting adventure and experience almost akin to the 1st feelings I got as an 8-year old boy visiting my aunt in far rockaway going to the candy store (1962) and seeing a poster in the store window stating : 1955-d double die penny, if found you could be one of the few to have such a rare and unique coin.well may sound familiar to some and odd to others but the rarity, to me, is not in a monetary figure. Simply put this is a wonderful and complex learning experience and I look forward to looking into the hundreds of coins I have and collected with a anxious and almost re-newed passion to keep looking,THIS SITE WILL NO DOUBT , from the feelings and knowlrdge with-in this sites members, and there knowledge and willingness to share suchbe a education for all concerned, MORGANS DAD.

G'Day David you asked what a is a good VAM book well the only one I use and now not complete is the Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan and Pease Dollars by the VAM kings L C Van Allen and A G Mallis this isn't up to date as therev'e added alot more VAM's since the last edition,so if I don't find a VAM in the book I internet VAMworld and it is more up to date than the book regards
