Yeah, me too. I have been too much into IHC to work on the Morgan box. Some coming up over the Weekend. Not promising biggies, but hopeful! Jim

I've been picking up two or three a week over the summer. I promise that I'll get my act together soon and post pictures. Most are 78 8TF (love that group), but also some R6/R7 21-D's with a few 80's and 88's mixed in for variety.

murty, Vam1 out, you have slanted a date. Vam3 out, your date is in the normal position, 2 1/2 denticles from neck point. Only leaves Vam6.

Thanks. Are you saying it is a VAM 6 or just a normal date.

It is a VAM 6. Every Morgan dollar is a VAM. Look at the space below the bottom crossbar of the 1st 1 and the denticles. Each number after gets progressively higher from the denticles, with the last 1 being the greatest distance from the denticles. A normal date would be VAM 1 with all the numerals being the same distance from denticles.

I got away from my Morgans for awhile (high prices and thin wallet) but I've recently gotten back into them - over the past few months I've picked up an 1893, 1893CC, 1893O, 1895O, and 1895S (all WELL circulated). Those two dates kinda intimidated me for the longest time, but, having opted for the lower grade coins, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel - only need seven to complete the set - 'course, those seven are the most expensive (even in the lower grades) - be awhile before I see any of them in my album. Still, the challenge of finding any of them with a price tag I can afford.....
