I'm with Glenzy and Stevex6, quarters all the way.
My reasoning to focus on quarters years ago was that dollars and halves are too expensive and hard to find in high grade. 10 cents are too small to see, and nickels and cents are not silver!
As irrational as that sounds it sent me in a direction never the less.
Now, instead of having a hodge-podge of various denoms in average grade, only to be down-played by a dealer when its time to sell, I have probably the finest set of George VI quarters, all ICCS, most have light tone: 1937 MS65 1938 MS66 1939 MS66 1940 MS67 1941 MS66 1942 MS66 1943 MS66cam 1944 MS65HC 1944 MS66 1945 MS65 1946 MS66 1947 MS65 1947ml MS66 HC 1948 MS66 1949 MS65 1950 MS66 1951 MS65 1952 MS65 1952hr MS65 1953ss MS66
anyone with a 1947dot in ICCSMS65 so I can complete?

Here's some pics as requested. they are not bad pics, however the coins do have more color than appears. the 1938 has some purple in it, and the 1943 is electric iridescent purple. All pieces have matching toning on the reverse. And notice they are old seal ICCS holders which means they are not recent regrades. I do have untoned ones as well. Will post more when I get time

I normally do not go for tones coins - but that 43 is stunning! Congrats on owning these gems. Thanks the pics - looking forward to more when you can.

WOW Numismateer, awesome K.G. VI quarter collection and no doubt the finest known. If you need the '47 Dot in an I.C.C.S, MS-65, check for lot # 1395 in the February 2012 Torex auction. It's got your name on it! Glenn

yes, I've seen that 47 dot offered before. To me, it looks fake toned and is a little dark, although I haven't seen it in-hand. at any rate, I try to avoid items that "might" be this or that, because every time you look at it, the focus is on the potential problem and not the coin itself. As far as toned coins are concerned, generally lighter is better than dark, as dark can disguise impairments and is a thicker layer of surface degradation. Despite the trend of "rainbow" premiums, I'll take a technically sound brilliant coin over a wildly toned piece any day. To me the best is technically sound, with some light original toning proving it hasn't been cleaned(cleaned coins usually retone funny), and it also provides uniqueness to an otherwise repetitive series.
