Right, zinc rot and a spender for sure, like so much of the junk that the US mint spews out every day.

The zinc planchets are plated with copper. When the plating is split, the zinc deteriorates when oxygen reaches the zinc. Breaking down. It is the beginning of the end for the coin. Not a good thing.

Zinc rot, PSD. The Copper plating getting pierced, causing the zinc core to get exposed. PSD. Unfortunately, it's a spender.
