Need Help With 1981 Proof Set Types

trdhrdr007 Pillar of the Community United States 2335 Posts	Posted 08/24/2019 4:12 pm I recently picked up a collection that had some proof sets including 2 5-packs of 1981 proof sets in mint mailers. My eyes aren't what they used to be and I'm having a hard time figuring out the mint mark type. I'm hoping someone can help me out with that. I'm headed out with the wife for the evening so here's some relatively bad pictures of one set. Report this Post to the Staff

trdhrdr007 Pillar of the Community United States 2335 Posts	Posted 08/25/2019 5:59 pm I've got 10 of the 1981 proof sets. The more I look at them the more confused I get. To add insult to injury I can't remember exactly which set the first pictures are from. I had more time this afternoon & dragged out my other setup that lets me get somewhat better pictures. I think the nickel, dime, quarter, & $1 are type 2. Other opinions would be helpful. Report this Post to the Staff

trdhrdr007 Pillar of the Community United States 2335 Posts	Posted 08/26/2019 07:57 am I found that post on an older thread. I used it to try to ID the type mint mark on the last set of pictures. I think the cent & half dollar are type 1 due to the rounded top & blunt lower serif. The rest of the mint marks look wider and flat on top of the S. Does that sound right?
