Intriguing notch. Is this a slightly off centered strike or just a VLDS? The L in liberty is practically part of the thin rim?.

hey biedercoins, intriguing indeed, on variety vista the DDO-002 and DDO-003 both showing progression of L to rim, actually very common in all 1960's cents, I've seen this a lot. But the separation in the five is very evident, just hard to take pictures of, the separation is on both top of the 5 and in the turn http://www.varietyvista.com/01b%20L...5PDDO003.htm

Your L isn't just encroachment, it looks like part of the rim, like a Cud would. And no, I'm not implying this is a Cud. Is there any space? I'm asking because it ( die age) may account for lack of doubling above the 5.

All 1965 cents have the notch, not a DDO.

ahhh gotcha so I guess for it to be a DDO there would have to be doubling showing above the 5, correct?

Here is a pretty toned SMS cent: I was looking for any DDO cent Images I have, but don't have any.

Rainbow toning is notoriously unstable. To stop further progression of toning into a dull and uninteresting coin, spray it with clear acrylic lacquer.
If done carefully, much better than airtight, because the lacquer is in close contact with the coin.

Normal coin. Just part of the design for that year.
Errers and Varietys.
