With Dansco possibly tanking I am looking at alternatives; I used Whitman some years ago but recall having issues with coins constantly getting lost in the pages. Also they don't offer slipcases.
Anyone using these who could comment?

I have whatever Dansco albums I want. When those are full I am done. I will continue to work on my slabbed Ike set and collecting OGP issue from the mint.

Whitman Classic albums are good quality for the most part and probably just a notch below Dansco in that respect. I actually prefer the font and the blue color of Whitman over the Dansco script and brown. It's also nice to have thumb cutouts to manipulate the acetate slides without having to resort to the friction method. Not having slip covers is a drawback.
I generally use Whitman Classic albums for my "from circulation" collections and Dansco for my proof / uncirculated / mint state sets.
I think there are still plenty of used ones to be had out there from LCSs and dealers at coin shows.

Local Coin Shop. Sorry, I thought that one was in the glossary -- guess not.
Many times Local Coin Shops / Dealers will purchase collections on consignment or from estates. It's typically more profitable for them to break the set up and sell coins individually than as an album. The result is empty (used) albums that you can pick up for cheap. I bought a used Dansco Ike album for $5 that way. Buy a couple coins to go with the album and they might even throw it in for free if you ask nicely.

I've noticed at coin shows dealers switching to Whitman for Folders and Albums. And also at many hobby stores too. Whitman is made in China and the quality sure shows it. I use mostly Whitman Classic Albums but sure am irritated with the quality. Yes the coins tend to move from assigned slots on most of the n newer Albums. Poor quality control over the page gluing process. And yes no slip covers. Not much can be done about the coins moving unless you wanted to take the page over the slots off and redo the gluing. As to other items, check out the Whitman web site.

It's a shame Dansco isn't producing product like they used to. Going to miss the quality.
Check out my counterstamped Lincoln Cent collection: http://goccf.com/t/303507

I'm starting to glance at Littleton albums as an alternative. I've used them in the past; coins usually hold well, my issue is the pages are hard to turn and hang up on the rings. I found if I use the flat of my hand to turn therm that usually works.

I have all 3, my favorite are Dansco as their albums are the best built and take up the least space. Whitman and Littleton are basically folder with tabs. Of the Whitman or Littleton, I think the Whitman are a little better built, less play in the tabs and less wasted space (folders are more appropriately sized) but the Littletons come with gloves. I like Whitman with silver coins more, the blue looks really nice. Honestly all do what they should do, so I can't complain.

Intercept Shield albums are a bit more expensive but they come with a slip case and offer better protection. Something to consider (if you can still get them).
