1862 Half Penny Identification

Looks normal date to me. These Victorian 1860-94 halfpennies were minted in large numbers but also saw heavy use - the vast majority got worn down to virtually blank discs. Ones in similar condition to yours are much scarcer than you would think, and seem to sell for about £5 on ebay.

I thought the date size difference was for 1862 pennies, not halfpennies.

Thanks so much everyone. I didn't have much thought about this one being the rarer of these coins but it was much better to ask experts than to rely on my little bit of Google snafu searching. Oldest coin that I've come across in just a random find since it was in a storage building that hadn't been opened in quite some time. What little bit of information I did find led me to think it was just the mint in the millions of others. I mostly questioned the date of being the supposed small vs normal variation. However, it's more of a nice little keepsake for the desk at home than the $5-10 I would make off of it. I'm not a coin collector but I can appreciate the reasons why others pursue it. Take care and I'll probably not check back in until I come across other finds.
