Original mint luster is not capable of being reproduced, and trying to do so will ruin whatever value the coin has. Removing even microscopic layers of metal (rubbing, polishing, dipping metal affecting chemicals) will ruin the value. Acetone will NOT remove metal and therefore is safe. Give us some pics and we can much better help you know exactly what to do and save help so you don't accidently ruin the coin while trying to make it "better."
