All the examples of lamination I've seen are on coins that have circulated. Is it that lamination's metal weakness is not revealed until the coin has circulated? Or do MS lamination examples exist?

I've seen Mint State examples of lamination errors. Most of them seem to be on Morgan dollars. Do a web image search for " Morgan dollar Lamination." It returned lots of slabbed coins.

Stoneman;

Did the lamination come off by itself, or did you remove it ?

Panther , it was actually one of my favorite retained lams for years. I had decided to photograph it and after doing that , was putting it back in its flip and heard a ping sound.
I just knew that I had ruined my lam but this was the result.

Great pics, thanks. Stoneman, sorry that lamination came apart, but it's very interesting to see the layer plus the strike underneath it.

Thanks nick . Oddly enough, the lam and its bark , together as a set , is much more desirable than when it was all one piece .
