Reports are in tonight of the death of Robert Mugabe. Mugabe was the PM of Zimbabwe from 1980 to 1987 and then President from 1987 to 2017. He was in power during the infamous hyperinflation years that gave us the legendary 100 Trillion Dollar note. Though ousted from office in 2017, his legacy infamy will live on for generations. Yes and what a legacy, corruption, murder & a country which was once the 'bread basket' of Africa brought to it's knees. I often wondered why Mugabe never put his face on Zimbabwean currency, if he had he would have fitted in nicely on the "Despots, Dictators" thread topic.

I think infamy would be a better word than legacy.

Good riddance. Quote: I often wondered why Mugabe never put his face on Zimbabwean currency, if he had he would have fitted in nicely on the "Despots, Dictators" thread topic. Truth.

A bit like Henry V111. Very promising in his early life. A cruel tyrant in later life.

Those 14 zeroes on NumisRob's banknote are not the full story. This note is from the third Zimbabwean dollar, after two devaluations.
Comparing this note to the first pre 2006 dollar, there would be 27 zeroes on this note. What would be the name for that, in terms of billion, trillion etc?

What would be the name for that, in terms of billion, trillion etc? 1 x 10^27 would be 1 octillion, in short-form nomenclature. In the long-form nomenclature used in Europe and by more old-fashioned folks in Britain, it would be 1 quadrilliard (1 thousand quadrillion). Or, to put it another way, if you split up that 1 octillion and gave an equal share to every single person on the planet, we'd all get about 125 quadrillion (short-form) of them.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
