If you are looking to sell it at the highest price get it slabbed. If you are going to keep it why are you going to slab it? One could conceivably get it slabbed, hoping for a 70 and a signed COA, then sell it/them and buy a 69 or raw for themself with the profit. Edited by bzookaj

Just remember there's only 100 out 30,000 signed COAs. Barely 1/3rd of 1 percent chance of getting one.

So is it even worth getting graded if it doesn't have the signed CoA?

I only mentioned the odds of getting a signed COA because it's been brought up more than a few times. Slightly more than 99.6% will not get one so maybe best not to factor that into your decision on whether to have it graded or not. |

Whether you're keeping or selling it this one is a no brainer to send in for grading. If you get a 70 or a signed COA or both you've got a ton of value there. Even if you don't care about 70s or want one graded you can sell that one and buy a raw one and keep the significant profit. Even if you don't get either of those the price of raw ones is so much higher than issue price that it more than covers the grading so there is no reason not to try it. Quote:

I'm not planning on selling mine and I wouldn't pay a cent more for a slabbed coin so I have no interest in grading. I also wouldn't pay what people are buying these for an ebay. But that's me. |

As I mentioned a few pages back, this is the only coin I've ever purchased that I'd consider for submitting for grading. Why? I'm not really even sure. Maybe because it is currently one of two key issues for the series.
Did someone post what the total charges are for grading on this coin with COA holder and everything? I know there are options like photo, returning OGP and all.

This is exactly the way that I view it. My entire ASE collection (complete) is in the OGP or airtites (bullion) with the exception of the 1995-W proof. The only reason the 1995-W proof is slabbed is that all of the raw ones that I saw looked terrible. I'm actually thinking about cracking it out. BTW, it's an NGC graded proof 69, but is perfect. I saw several 70's that were not as nice. |

None of the coins (bulk of my collection) are in NGC slabs and NONE have developed spots or toning. Therefore, I'm planning on sending my 2019 S to be graded. What have you done to prevent toning and spots on your OMP collection? Thanks |

I put the bullion coins in airtites and searched and found the others in perfect condition in their OMP. My guess is that the coins that I purchased on the secondary market were likely stored well and were not prone to developing spots and toning. I store them in a humidity controlled room. No doubt there is a possibility that some could develop spots at some point. If so, I'll just replace them. Fortunately, I have not had that happen yet. The 1995-W proof that I purchased was slabbed several years prior, so I'm confident that it will remain spot free. My concern with purchasing newly slabbed coins is that they sometimes develop spots after grading. This results in high grade coins that look bad. |

As mentioned previously, with advancement in coin production since the 95-w there should be a good amount of 70's flooding ebay in the next couple of weeks as coins start getting graded. This may or may not cause the price to go down. We'll see how the market reacts. Edited by wyzeguy

Pinehurst now wants $799 - up from $599 two days ago. Someone (2283 positive feedback scores as of typing this) bought a total of 64 coins from them for a total of $43,736. That's a lot of dough.

I know there are options like photo, returning OGP and all. $80-100 for most ways 110-130ish for express if you want any of the special stuff for them. $16-40 depending if you go modern/regular standard/gold shield if you just submit it normally as part of another submission, you won't get any of the special stuff though OGP comes back free from PCGS NGC should be another $3 |
