I thought I would post this 1994 D Washington quarter to show what DDD is and what a DDO is not. Amazed at the fields being pretty clean but the devises are screaming for the die to be changed out and it has a little MD to boot.
A lot of the weakness of the quarter reverses is from using worn master hubs. The wear transfers on down the line and so when the dies start showing wear, happens earlier from the worn master hub. On the 1964 SMS quarter reverse, the die looks like a worn out die example: The fields are clean, but the master hub is showing extreme wear, thus the change over on the reverses in 1965 with a fresh master hub. So when the Type 'C' showed up on the 1964-D, then we knew something was changing soon.
