Interesting coin...lots going on. I have had differing opinions from those who have looked at it....flip over?, double struck?, rotated double struck?, major clash?, planchet flaw...etc... Any guesses? (it weighs a little light at 5.64 g...should be 6.22g)

Hard for me to answer your questions with that level of wear, but I'm pretty sure that there is a Cud at about 10 o'clock on the obv.

Severely corroded, severely damaged, severely cleaned.

It's beat to death. Unless it was a well known and desired variety or error it's virtually worthless.

Sorry, but honest.

For sure it could be, but it seems to me like most Cuds are long in the circumferential direction rather than the radial direction (like this one).

I certainly agree with the corrosion comment etc. The "worthless" comment has no bearing on my interest in trying to possibly understand its history in arriving at or being created in this state (note: I never asked "how much is this worth?"). We may never know (since none of us were there)...but curiosity of the abnormal is what caused me to make this posting. After all...that's what the title of this forum is all about and I am appreciative of ALL your opinions.

Cud makes it worth something even this beat up and corroded. Not worthless by any means, I'd buy it, I know a few other collectors that would too. I don't see any signs of a flip over strike though., just the Cuds and some interesting die breaks.

I think it was a ground find, maybe a metal detector coin, that has been cleaned of corrosion. The weight would be less than normal because of the corroded/removed metal. I think it may have a couple of Cuds, but it's just too far gone to tell anything. If it's double struck the original strike would be lost in the rough surface.

Thanks for posting! It is interesting to look at even in this condition!
