The dime is showing a heavily circulated dime, that was struck with a die that was in the VLDS (Very-Late-Die-State) when the coin was struck. Not an error. The nickel is showing a coin scratch. The mark is incuse in the center and showing a trench, with moved metal piled on each side of the coin: On a die crack the die shows an incuse mark on the die: An incuse mark on a die, leaves a raised area on the coins. Note the center image. The crack is uneven and raised above the fields and flows over devices.
