Is this the kind where the die moves the metal on its way back up from striking the coin? It's mostly on PLU of PLURIBUS.

Yes, Machine doubled. The shelf look, pushed metal appearance is the problem. The movement of the dies distort the size of the devices. Unlike a doubled die, that the devices actually become larger.
