I was going after a really nice 1955 toned proof as well but didn't win; however if I could've only had one then it would be this one. Auction just ended. Still need a toned 1951 and a 1955 to complete the colorfully toned 1950 - 1958 set I'm building. Pics when it arrives.

Not something I'd care to own, but it is pretty remarkable.

I have 2-3 toned copper cents. I like them but I like the red ones more.

Some people like the toning....and others don't preferring the red ones. However to each their own. But the difference here being anyone can put a pr red 1950 through 1958 set together in a day for relatively not an exorbitant sum of money. This is a waiting game putting the toned ones together.

Phenomenal pickup! I only own 1 nicely toned LWC proof, and it pales to this one.

@GrapeCollects. Did you see the 1955 one that went right through my fingers in the last second of the auction? The same consignment seller who had the ones I got last week.

That spot on the reverse doesn't bother anyone? The obverse is just amazing.

That spot didn't bother me or anyone else from bidding. We didn't want to wait around and see if a better toned one ever comes through. The waiting game is too long to wait on the next one coming through. It's a portrait of Lincoln's ghost. I'd prefer the spot not be there, but thankful it's not on the face.
Rest in Peace

Sorry Doc but I'm with John1 . The obverse is drop dead gorgeous but I couldn't sleep at nights knowing I bought a proof wheatie with that horrible black spot on it .

If it were a red proof with a spot on it, then one could easily let it go because it's easily replaced.

Further spotting on reverse rim below the nasty one, it looks like.

Most likely on the rim....where there's one...there will be more given time.

I didn't, I must have missed that one. Either way I see this one as an absolute win!
