1941 Chinese Republic $5 National Salvation Aviation Bond [Hang K'ung Chiu Kuo Ch'uan,] One of the most interesting series of note-like bonds issued by the Chinese Republic during its war with Japan in a 1941 set depicting a monoplane of the Nationalist air force at the center; notes are printed entirely in Chinese, at top center reads "Hang K'ung Chiu Kuo Ch'uan" (National Salvation Aviation Bonds) dated in the 30th year of the Republic, or 1941.
One (1) $5 bond blue and light green on face, black and red on back and depicts Nationalist warplane of 1941; and one (1) $10 brown and pink face, black and red on back. All notes in the series are similar; and printed on un-watermarked white paper with a note-like set of terms in Chinese test on back. All serial numbers are printed in red and all bonds bear a round colorless embossed seal of the Nationalist Finance Ministry. 4.5" x 7.5"

Thanks so much...explains why I was having so much trouble finding it as I thought it was a note. Are these collectible? Any sense of value?

How can I put this simply...
Not really and not much because these are very obscure unlisted bonds, not banknotes, issued for an even more obscure and unimportant (in a historical sense) purpose.
The collector market is miniscule to virtually nonexistent so it will take a long time to sell and since it is a buyers' market the buyer can pretty much dictate price.
NOTE: Not trying to be a jerk writing the above but I am being straight forward and honest. It is not my intent to offend in any way. I happen to like off-beat obscure exonumia like this and I would purchase them probably.

Thanks for the insight. As is often the case with stuff like this, rarity and value can be too very different things!

Perhaps a keeper though. China is going through such a process right now, and such things might be obscure now, but as China gets richer and the number of relics of the past stop being enough for the enriched population, such notes might suddenly become attractive.

There is a market for these. They get about $50-75.00 on ebay for the $5.00.
