TO me looks looks Italian at first impression, though crosses both sides is unusual?

The very block-y Gothic is tough, but first image appears to have N A from 12:00 to 6:00. I am wondering if 9:00 to 12:00 is Bo which might make it Bologna (latin name is Bononia).

I will dig a bit ...

@tdz, I agree most likely Italian as crosses on both sides are somewhat common, but not from Bologna (or at least this coin is not in my Biaggi). I'll try to look in more detail tonight.

@wallet, you have here a Denaro from the Italian City State of Verona that dates to between AD 1218 and 1250. The obv legend is a retrograde F CI I CI and the rev legend is VE RO N A. It is attributed as Biaggi 2970. Here is my example for comparison:

@Spence Great! Thank you! I'm impressed. I've spent some time by myself to find out, but unfortunately I don't the Biaggi, and it's hadr to get.
Your piece are nicer, but mine is ok for the price I pay.

No prob @wallet--glad to help. I agree that Biaggi is very hard to get, although I did see one for sale last year:

The good folks of the Italian government have made the mammoth 20-volume Corpus Nummorum Italicorum (CNI) available online for free download. Not Biaggi but still a 'standard reference'. https://www.numismaticadellostato.i...oteca/corpus

@spence, nice job! I started looking in Numista's, Italian States section, but got disheartened part way through the alphabet. Had I stuck with it, I would have found it. It's the last coin in the 123 pages of that section! https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces151549.html
