It looks to be a bed and a small child wrapped in a blanket. Midwife and helpers?. The figures on the right are holding the mothers hand and the figures to the left are at the "mothers" feet. foundinrolls Pillar of the Community United States 3507 Posts	Posted 09/21/2008 2:43 pm I certainly don't think anyone was intending to change the "flags" to "angelic figures" or an "E.T." :-) I just think it's a crummy rendition of a counterstamp punch based upon the original painting by Trumbull. Admittedly, having twenty four parrots here, my first thoughts were..."Gee...a pair of Macaws overlooking the Signing of the Declaration of Independence" and "That was an interesting artistic approach".
