I was wondering if anyone could estimate the value of the dime that I possess in which the "heads up" side is very distorted and in which you can slightly see the imprint of the head, and you can also see the other side of the coin (teals/torch side). Neither one of the imprints are clear, but the slight lettering that is visible on the distorted side looks to be stamped backwards. It isn't very easy to see the tiny details in a picture, although I will post one anyway. The tails side of the coin is in perfect condition as the moment I received this coin (about 5 years ago) I placed it away and waited until I fell across it again another day. I doubt it was circulated very much otherwise someone would have noticed this as it as a smooth feeling coin.

Thank you all,
James
(Sorry about the poor quality picture.. dropped my camera at shea stadium, and someone grabbed it before it hit the ground apparently)

It sounds to me like what you are describing is a possible die clash, although I'm by far no expert. I will tell you that you are going to have to get clearer pics though!

Jimoboe, to CCF, You will definitely have to post a better photo but what you describe is a caped die error I think . I don't know what the value would be but it does have one and it should be a pretty good one, Let's wait for the pros to answer.

Looks like a capped die. Mike Diamond would be the expert on this. Nice find. Definite error coin.

It's a late-stage brockage. Value should be in the $50 range.

Well thanks, you guys are great .. I have been collecting all sorts of coins and medallions since I was about 5. I have a whole bunch of them now, but I assume most of them aren't worth too much. I have an awful lot of foreign coins from my great uncle was was in WWII and was always all over the place. It's nice to know a dime could be worth $50 dollars. Is there any place I could go to get the dime estimated or given a price? (besides the antique road show )
