Found this earlier in the day. 75 LMC- What is this picture depicting? I've seen JFK'S bust on a Lincoln Cent, wonder what this is supposed to commemorate? From the clothing, it looks more Colonial time period, maybe Geo Washington's passing?

..looks like birds. If it was a human-like figure, the hand is placed wrong for the lower figure, and much too long for the second one.

I'd say it is a very crude eagle and the lower image looks like a representation of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Compare it to the central image on the back of the two dollar bill.

1975 would be the 110th anniversary of Lincolns death. My thoughts on this, his wife Mary sitting by his bed side. The figure sitting on far right of the coin. Others standing around his bed. The building above may represent Ford's theater. Not sure of the figure above. This may have been added later as the workmanship doesn't appear to be of the same quality as the rest.

Bill, That must be it--hilarious how we interpreted it this way.

Bill, if we were debating the coin, I would give in to your knowledge. Since it's the art work on it, I feel free to argue. The original stamp may have been the signing. I still believe its been altered by a second artist. The doorway has been altered to resemble a building. Some of the original stamped back of chair can be seen in the widened section of the chair back. The flags may have been with the original stamp, but they also appear altered to represent an angel with an outstretched hand. Maybe we shouldn't go to the Louvre together.

Hmm...before I read the other posts that cleared it up I was going to say the nativity. Three wise men, Mary, Joseph, the manger, a barn and angel in the background. It all makes sense, eh?
Man, that's got to be the worst counterstamp I've ever seen.
