This quarter had me looking at it over and over again as it has very strong features!! Please help me review one of the most unique coins I have found thus far. Notes (obv): I have shown all the different angles of the P mint mark; look closely at the extra dies and repunches ? throughout esp. in AMERICA and DOLLAR; stronger doubling from top of Washongton's head down over his entire nose
(rev) look at EPU esp. UNUM; designer's initials look doubled
Thanks gents for being fast to help. Now, respectfully..how would you all come up w such a quick conclusion. There is certainly something else this P MINT mark is on top of (see image). This clearly is not just a normal, regular P.
Well, I will soon get a hold of a very high magnifier camera..something happened to this coin as I also noticed a teeny hairline die crack (I will do a post follow-up and add another image to show it)
It is a normal 'P' mintmark, the what you are seeing there is die flow lines starting towards the rim. The die is VLDS and the devices are even showing extreme Die Deterioration. Note "Dollar" on the obverse. They get pretty ugly in this die state.
Hi @coop I appreciate you as well. VLDS makes sense as it didn't look like the noted damage while in circulation (as this appears to be a minimally circulated coin).
