For lack of a better term anyone who wants to post is more than welcome to add attempting to make a list of rare dies or die marriages if anyone knows of a list already made a link to that would be helpful. I am referring to the 1922 b1 Peace dollar and the 1809 c1 Half Cent. Rare marriages that make ordinary coins extraordinary anyone know some more to look for.

The market problem with 'sleeper' coins generally,
is that nobody knows exactly when they are going to 'wake up'.

More of just rare marriages another example 1956 ty1 pr Franklin half ty 1 die minted something like 36k coins giving them a nice premium over other 56 half dollars. I have a 56 ty 1 NGC pr 67 I'd love for that one to wake up. Maybe sleeper wasnt the correct term...didnt ask for market issues, just other examples. Take for instance the 1809 c1 Half Cent plain 1809p books at $58 in g4 a tiny difference in the die marriage makes the 1809 c1 Half Cent worth something like $2,400 I saw somewhere in the price books I think. May have figured out how to compile my list already have a list of ALL keys and semi-keys that's pretty long but these vams are all a whole new ballgame for me sorry.

Difficult subject. So many so called sleepers are just never going to hit it big. For example the Mercury dimes in the early 30's. Very few made buy just no interest. Same with many low mintage coins. And contrary to that is some high mintage coins are just popular and so are just sort of sleepers.

Thank you sel_69l and justCarl I have an idea of the list I am going to compile next to use as reference while cherry picking the online auctions basically a list of all coins by year not denomination all r1 and r2 coins that are rare not necessarily because of mintage or condition but because of their die marriages or a die being changed out early or things of that nature so I can know and better see the simonds hiding next to the dollars. Like the 1922 b1 dollar. It will take me a while but I will make it...149 views 2 replies no additional coins added for my list
A list of rare vams Cohen Breen and anyone I missed for all denominations of US coins anyone?

If you are interested in rare die marriages then the Seated Liberty half dollar has almost 100 R6 or higher die marriages. Here are two coins that I recently purchased that the 1877 S is an R7 but the 1877 Philadelphia is an R8.

muddyknuckles, Here is a link to the Seated Liberty half dollars that has many of the die marriages with the exception of 1853 to 1891 Philadelphia mint. That book is not complete yet.

There are also links for other Seated denomination attribution guides at that link.
