I'm in the Lam box on this one, if you want to try to match it to other cents from that year that have a RIDB here is the link

Looks more like a struck through debris. Not in a straight line like lamination should be. Not a die crack or retained die break. (note the left side of the area in question) The outline is not thick like a RIDB would be.

I'm also thinking "struck through" copper debris that is still attached

IMHO, sharper photos are needed.

The angle and general shape of the right side of the metal blob aren't terribly far from the angle and shape of the lower front of Lincoln's coat, which is surprisingly weak on this coin. Are we sure this isn't just old PMD, masked by heavy post-damage circulation?

See the black line around the area in question. That is there because there is an edge between struck through debris and the design. If this were a die crack, it would be raised, but it is not raised, it is incuse. A die crack would be taller than the design on that area.

They are less common than laminations, but most of the time, a strong lamination will have a premium. (the bigger the better) But something new ones collect. Keep them in a tube. I made the mistake in keeping things in 2X2's, and now realized that I spent 5 cents to save a cent. When you see how many books of 20 page plasic sleeves of binders I saved before I did that, Now I warn others not to make the same mistake.
