I came across this in our collection, and I cant seem to find anything about it. Is this just normal wear and tear? The T in liberty is distorted. Let me know what you guys think. Thank you in advance!!

@bd6432, first welcome to CCF. Second, the letter T of LIBERTY has taken a hit along the way that has turned it into what kinda looks like a number 7. Odd to be sure, but I'd put it into the normal wear and tear over 67ish years of circulation.

looks like post mint damage and general wear. Possibly some dryer time too.

Thank you! I love it still. The oddities of these coins amaze me. I especially like how the mint mark is distorted as well. May not be worth much, but definitely a keeper :)

Thank you! Any advice on how to see the finer details of these coins, or how I go about getting them authenticated?

post mint damage. The good news is it's still worth one cent, the bad news it's only worth one cent. Authentication is used when you aren't certain it's real. Save your money (it's real).

The oddities you are looking for is most often circulation damage. (which the value for the coin doesn't increase) Learn to look to spot things that are collectables. How can you do this. Look for RPMs, (re-punched-mintmarks) or doubled dies. Looks at various sites to see what they list as collectables:
Doubled DDO
http://www.varietyvista.com/01a%20L...201952-D.htm
This year/mint has two doubled eyelids. Look for these on this years obverses.
Another site shows three doubled eye lids, but also shows a couple more DDO's to look for:

DDR:
None listed on these two sites.
RPMs:
http://www.varietyvista.com/02a%20L...%201952D.htm
Several this this year.
Coppercoins, you might use the search to find what to look for there:

First box check 1952
Second box Denver
Third box mint mark variety.
Click or just hit enter and it will take you to their listings.
Home page.
It is always nice to know what to look for before starting your searches.

So open these links and see what to look for.

Save it still, and toss it in your Wheat cent pile.
