Just picked up this nice little Bolskan AE unit and thought it would be better to post it on this thread rather than start another.... Just to add a bit of Bronze to the two lovely Silver examples shown before.. Spain, Bolskan (Osca). Circa 150-72 BC.(Thanks Veton) AE Unit (10.35 gm, 24mm). Obverse: Bearded head right; dolphin behind. Reverse: "BOLSKAN" in Celt-Iberian in exergue, rider on horse right, holding spear; star behind. CNH 8; SNG BM Spain 734; SNG Copenhagen 325. VF.
Also here's the 3 portraits shown so far mine seems to be following the Greek style of Finn's...I still wonder who this guy was? And also why a dolphin is depicted on a coin minted so far from the sea?
