Does anyone know what this big coin is called? It has a Native American head on it and names all three big buildings, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and Rockefeller center. It says 1898 on it and it looks like someone scratched "Coney Island " on it? There are no other numbers.

It is called a medal or medallion, it has no redeemable value, only value as a collectible item.

@letty, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes that looks like a souvenir from NYC. It looks to be big enough to be used as a drink coaster.

It is just a souvenir of New York city, not really a medallion or medal as been said might have some little value to a collector of NYC memorabilia. Generally found in the LCS (local coin shop) bargain bin. Coin collectors do collect items like that but they are low cost items.

The date is also not real, neither the Empire State Building ir Rockefeller center were in existence in 1898.

The consolidated New York City, as we know it today, was created on 1 January 1898. The most recent reference is to Rockefeller Center which was completed in 1933. I wouldn't be surprised if this piece turned out to be 70 or 80 years old. The more I look at it, the more I kinda like it.

To me, the cloud background on your NYC medal suggests that it's intended to look like a three bladed airplane propeller. Very cool unusual design.
