You might want to do some research on the error coins you wish to collect, as many collectors mistakenly think that damaged coins are errors. Most often these end up being the correct weight, but one or both sides has suffered chemical or environmental exposure. Let us know the weight and then we can start helping you figure out what you have. If the layer of copper/nickel clad was missing from the coin it would weigh about 4.67 grams. Here's an older Washington quarter with the obverse clad layer missing before the strike. http://goccf.com/t/357961 You can see how the copper layer looks in the image from that topic.
