Check out that seller's other coins. All of them look to be polished business strikes that were stored in a "winery cellar." The Sulfur Dioxide and Hydrogen Sulfide given off by the wine changes the color of the coins. Read his descriptions and warnings about Third Party Grading.
He also uses PCGS photos as examples of natural toning to compare to his coins.

This guy is too savvy to accidentally have proof Mercurys for $42. He has polished these with either a clear coat or slick polishing, but no way these are proof coins. I'm not sold on the "wine cellar" toning either. The PGGS "examples only" in his photos is borderline fraud.

Edited: One of our members posted a few months back.."Would you sell to a coin doctor" use the search box..He took a Buff nickel and toned the heck out of it...then stated it was in his familys wine cellar...

Splotchy toning = intentional fake toning.
Almost all of his coins have been doctored.

WOW! After Greasy Fingers brought this to my attention, I did a CCF search, and WOW! This turkey buys coins, artificially tones them and resells them on ebay (in his ebay ad he says they were in a wine cellar for twenty years!). Someone should report him to ebay! We need to stick together as a Community.. this seller is a badguy! As Greasy Fingers has said, he probably isn't even a vet as he represents. One bad hombre!

All of his coins look polished. His washed out photos are not to be trusted. I never trust ebay sellers who use photos like this.

I asked this seller a question about this coin https://www.ebay.com/itm/1840001776...l_noapp=trueI just asked him straight out if this has been artificially toned. His reply was "Read my description" So I replied back to him asking him How this coin could have been stored in his Family Wine Cellar from 1963-1984 when it wasn't even minted until 1987. Waiting on a reply to that question.

Quote: Waiting on a reply to that question. Here is his answer Quote: After 28 years in the Marine Corp, I retired in 1985 and continued to buy coins until 1990. The coins were shipped from Put-in-Bay, Ohio to Cleveland in 1990 and stored for an additional 4 years.
