2016-D Dime. Looks like Struck on a penny planchet. Has smooth ridge not reeded like a normal dime, it is also inset on both the obv and rev quite a bit. Just wondering the value If any. Any info is appreciated. Thank You. Weight is normal 2.27 g's

@pwx, first welcome to CCF. Second, it is pretty rare that we see coins struck on the wrong planchet. In addition to pics, can you please also post the weight of this coin? Thx.

The size of the cent planchet will not work in the setup for a dime. I have an image of an example that someone at the mint assisted the strike. Note the location of the outer devices:

Again note the location of the outer devices on a dime on a cent planchet. Your coin is not like this. This mint assisted error is the only way you could have a dime on a cent planchet.

Why is it so counter sunk on each side? I mean it is really deep.

It has been damaged. The rim has been battered in, either intentionally or accidentally.

I've noticed that a lot of the newer dimes are deeply struck or the rims are high
