so I saw this listing on ebay and messaged the seller it is not an error but heavily damaged, this was his response Quote: I believe it is an error coin. Just heavily damaged if you look on the reverse of the coin you can see a reverse of 1906 stamped on the back but backwards I believe this to be an error coin if you would just stop and pay attention and use your eyes you can see where it is an error so I explained I been studying large cents and this is definately damage his next response Quote: If it could never happen how does this coin exist it s clear as day on the back of my coin so I told him it was squished in a vise with a 1906 coin and it would be impossable as the 1906 dies werent even made yet, his next reponse Quote: If that was the case I would not have posted it it s a true error coin that is unique and their will always be critics that will always have negative things to say just because you think you re an expert does not mean you re an expert anything s possible they could have tried to die on an old coin and that s why it is deformed and has a reverse of 1906 on it anything s possible some people just dont get it, he would be happier hoping to rip someone off fot $75

Yup anything is possible but he is obviously wrong.A 1906 die would not make an incuse reverse date on a 1900 coin. One does not have to be an expert to see that. Just educated on the minting process and the characteristics of the die are enough.

Wonder if the damage happened when the coin was put in the vise in the first place...

That guy's thinking is as bad as his spelling and punctuation. I think you went too easy on him Gidjit. There was more from the toolbox used there than just a vise. Definitely a hammer also. If the coin had no other marks and wasn't all bent and distorted, I would have thought that was a large missing piece of a lamination on the obverse. After looking at it a while I realized I have a grinding stone for my Dremel with the same shape. Could be either.

@gidjit, as this seller is beyond reason, I would not waste any more energy, except to send bobby the link so it can be removed pronto.
