Could anyone recommend grading guides, preferably online, for the following types of silver world coins? I generally collect lower-mid grade examples . I have just been looking at slabbed examples, but I'd like something more comprehensive. Thank you

German States 5 Marks
Peru Sol (.9 and .5 silver)
Spain 5 pesetas
Italy 5 Lire
France 5 Francs
Britain Crown and 1/2 crown
Plus any other miscellaneous "crown"-sized coins

I have about 80 World silver crowns.
I much prefer to use the
British grading system for other than U.S. coins,
because that is what is much more used in the rest of the World.

Coins in the rest of the World are graded and marketed using the British grading system, because
it can be adapted to grade any coin, including ancients, medieval, milled European (including crowns) and all modern coins including U.S. coins.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When grading any modern World coin (including my World silver crowns),
there two main factors to consider:
1. wear,
2. nicks and scratches.

If there is no wear to be seen on the high points of the design both sides under 10x magnification,
then the coin has to be in at least some sort of uncirculated grade.
What sort of uncirculated grasd depends on the amount and severity of the nicks and scratches mentioned above.

Below uncirculated grades wear will be present, and includes the increasing prevalence of nick and scratches.

Krause World Coin cCtalogs provide very good advice on how to grade, with grades indicated in various languages, using the British based grading system.

Damage will severely affect the value of a coin, but it is still capable of being accurately graded provided that the damage is accurately described, and where possible, photographed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I only use Sheldon grading on U.S. coins and occasionally Canadian coins, and then mainly for comment here in the CCF.
U.S. TPGraders don't even bother to grade damaged coins, which in my opinion, and in the case of otherwise extremely rare and otherwise valuable coins, is a bit unfair.
