The doubling is on the letters and the mint mark and it's all moving towards the rim. I think it's Die Deterioration Doubling and not a Doubled Die.

And on this coin with the older style of hubbing, I refer to this as die wear. As mentioned this appears towards the direction of the closes rim. It can be weak or strong depending on the die state of the die as it progresses to age.

I the fresher die states, the die wear first appears on the edge of the devices closest to the rims. On the first image, it affects just the edge of the devices that should be squared, but now the coin is showing a slight rounding. As the die progresses to age the devices in the direction to the rim start to fall apart even more as noticed by the coins struck with aging dies.
Note the progression of die wear on the reverse of a what cent:

On these note two things. The appearance of die flow lines and also take a second look to see how the devices show die wear and loose the crispness of the devices. This happens to all dies, but seeing them in progression is kind of looking back at photos of yourself through the years. After looking at these die again images, when you find an EDS coin, then you see how die wear does affect coins:

The places to look at on EDS coin is most often the fields. Note how little the disturbance is on these areas.

Take your time learning. Figure out what your not seeing, before you move on. Ask questions. We are all here to help every one. Each thread should be a learning experience. Want to make it interesting? Look at the first post only, then apply what your learned already. Write down what you think the answer to the question is. Then scroll down and see what you missed or if you are correct. That way you will get the most in a shorter period of time.
