Looking for experienced opinions on buying gold such as 2019 $50 Proof Double Eagles directly from the US Mint (about $1,800 each) verses buying from dealers like APMEX? What do you think of these v a pre 1933 random date slabbed Double Eagles. Thanks
Rest in Peace

Grab a 1908 No Motto Saint Gauden's in MS-66 (NGC or PCGS) for less than that.

Nice type coin, gorgeous, lots of gold.

If you are investing in gold, just get the pre-33 $20 coins at the lowest premium.

I much prefer the 'historical' ones (which actually circulated) vs. the modern ones.

9 times out of 10 anything you buy from the Mint you will loose money on. Unless you really want a Proof, buy an MS coin from a dealer or opt for a pre-1933 $20 Double Eagle as the others mentioned.
