Hello,

We were moving my mother in laws apartment this weekend, and found a coin pouch from her mother hidden in a jar with various coins I've never seen before in it, one of them being this one. From little research I've done, its not magnetic and doesn't have the word "copy" on it, as well as its very thin.

Not sure how to tell if its legit or fake but hoping someone can point me in right direction, or who I should bring it in to look at it. 1652-New-England-Colonial-Pine-Tree-Shilling

Thanks!

The pics make me think its a fake. The type of surface pitting looks very much like a cast copy. There are extra blobs on the coin which also makes it look cast. A few highlighted with arrows below:

Unfortunately . It is fake, although I can understand why you would ask.

The thickness alone shows that it is a fake. A genuine coin is almost paper thin.
